Is it strange that I sit alone
In a room so still and silent?
I am the only one that makes a sound
But not the only one that hears it.
Is it strange that darkness scares me
When I've spent my life in it?
Shadows cling near to me
And just won't let go.
Is it strange that I stay up late singing
Melodies I make up all the time?
With a fluttering voice but a few strong notes
I spit out the words as they come.
